Two kisses, starting on the right
Greeting in Spain is dos besos, two kisses, and unlike France there is no regional arithmetic to get wrong: it is always two. They are not really kisses but cheek touches, with the sound made in the air, and you move to your own left first so that right cheeks meet. The custom holds between two women, and between a woman and a man; two men shake hands or embrace instead. First meetings in a business setting are increasingly a handshake for everyone. Follow the other person's lead and you will not go wrong.
