Padel is everywhere
Spain's second sport is one many visitors have never heard of. Padel is played in doubles on an enclosed court whose walls are in play, with a short solid racket and no strings, and it has gone from niche to ubiquitous — courts behind sports centers, on rooftops, and in towns of every size, with several million regular players. It is far easier to start than tennis, which is much of the appeal. The wider habit behind it is municipal: most towns run a polideportivo, a public sports center priced to be affordable rather than commercial.
