至急, and the mail nobody marks urgent
Japanese business mail has a small vocabulary of urgency markers — 至急, 要対応, 【重要】 in the subject line — and a strong convention against using them. Marking your own request urgent asserts that your work outranks the recipient's, which is a claim a junior employee does not get to make, and a senior one does not need to. The result is that 至急 from a subordinate reads as rude and 至急 from a client reads as a genuine emergency. 森 waving it off — 見ればわかるから — is a small kindness: she is telling Alex not to spend any thought on a decision that could only go wrong for him.
