内定 — the offer before the job
内定 is a job offer made to a student months before graduation, and it carries far more weight than the word informal suggests. Companies hold 内定式 ceremonies in October for people who will not start until April, and holding several at once is treated as a serious breach rather than as sensible hedging. Withdrawing one is something companies are publicly careful about. So 内定 is the moment a career is settled, well before any work has been done.
