ラジオ体操
A short sequence of radio calisthenics, broadcast since 1928, is close to a national reflex. Schoolchildren do it in the yard, some workplaces run it before a shift, and during the summer break children gather in local parks early in the morning to do it together and collect a stamp on a card. The music is instantly recognizable to every Japanese person alive. It is why 準備運動 sounds ordinary rather than clinical: warming up as a group is something people have done since childhood.
