Sobremesa
Sobremesa is the time spent at the table after the food is finished — talking, plates still there, over coffee or something stronger — and it can comfortably outlast the meal. It has a name because it is a recognized part of eating rather than an accident of it, and getting up as soon as you have eaten reads as odd, even faintly rude. A Sunday comida beginning at two may end at six with nobody having moved. Sobremesa is where the stories get told, which is why a Spanish anecdote is never in a hurry.
