The second party, and the third
A Japanese night out moves. The 一次会 is the booked restaurant with the formal toast; then the group relocates to a 二次会, usually a bar or karaoke, and sometimes onward to a 三次会 that nobody planned. Colleagues who were careful at dinner are noticeably less so by the second venue, which is part of the point.
