Alex, there you are at last, I've been looking for you for half an hour among the halls and the stands, and I may have gone in the wrong entrance twice. Here at the Fair I work for the children's list, so today I'm selling dragons, princesses and picture books, not novels about Trieste. But between one meeting and the next, in case we run into someone interested, I've got the sheet on Ada's book in my bag.

I'd never been inside a book fair, and I confess I expected readers, not tables full of people talking about contracts in six languages. Maybe I'm naive, but I thought rights were sold calmly, over a coffee, not in half an hour against the clock. I won't necessarily understand any of it by this evening, but I promise to keep quiet and learn.
