Sofía and Alex arrange a time and place to meet the next day.
Mañana has two common meanings: "tomorrow" (used here) and "morning" (which you'll see later as de la mañana). Context makes clear which one is meant.
How do I read these pronunciations? See the pronunciation guide.
1. Telling Time — Es la.../Son las...
Use es la una for exactly 1:00, and son las + number for every other hour, since "the hours" are plural. Y media adds "thirty" / "half past."
2. ¿A qué hora...? — Asking When
¿A qué hora...? asks at what time something happens — different from ¿qué hora es?, which just asks the current time.
3. Time Prepositions — a la/a las
Use a la with una (one o'clock) and a las with every other hour, to say "at" a specific time.
4. Querer + Infinitive
Querer ("to want") is followed directly by an infinitive verb to say what you want to do. "Quiero" = I want.
5. Tampoco — Negative Agreement
Tampoco means "neither" or "not either" — it's how you agree with a negative statement someone else made.

Spain runs an hour late, officially
Spanish mealtimes look eccentric until you check the clock against the sun. Spain lies mostly west of Greenwich but keeps Central European Time, an alignment adopted in 1940 to match Berlin and never reversed. Solar noon in Madrid therefore falls around half past one — which is exactly when lunch happens. Measured by daylight rather than by the clock face, Spaniards eat at much the same point in the day as everyone else; it is the hour hand that is out of step. The effect runs through everything, down to prime-time television starting after ten.
