The visit from head office
A 視察 from Tokyo is a managed event. Someone meets the visitor at the station — that is 出迎え, and sending nobody is a statement. A 手土産 arrives from their side and something local goes back with them. The itinerary is fixed in advance, the 現場 is tidied, the meeting room is set up before anyone needs it, and a junior person is assigned to stay beside the visitor all day. Alex is doing that job here, and the tiring part is not the walking: it is being the 橋渡し, speaking upward and sideways alternately for eight hours, which is why 気疲れ is a word that exists separately from 疲れ. 中村 naming it is her way of saying he did well.
