Madame, whatever her age
Address any woman as Madame. Mademoiselle was struck from official forms in 2012 after a long campaign, on the grounds that it asked about marital status in a way no form asked of men, and using it now to an adult reads as dated at best. Monsieur and Madame do a great deal of work in French: they open a sentence to a stranger, soften a request, and are used far more often than Sir or Ma'am in American English. In formal address the title can grow — Madame la Directrice — and the longer form is not sarcastic.
