The work group chat
Chinese working life runs through WeChat groups, and the work 群 is a genuine institution: one for the team, the department, the project, the client. Messages arrive in the evening and at weekends, a visible failure to respond gets noticed, and so people respond. 收到 — received — is the standard acknowledgment, sent by everyone in turn until the screen fills with it.
